Aura Glass Skin Protocol
The Aura Glass Skin Peel is our take on the glass-skin finish that has come out of Korean skincare over the last few years. The aim is luminous, even skin that looks deeply hydrated rather than made-up. We get there by layering three things: a gentle acid resurfacing step, a salmon DNA polynucleotide infusion, and a calming, hydrating finish that locks the actives in.
It is a signature treatment we developed in-house. Clients book it before weddings, events, and photoshoots, and it works equally well as a monthly maintenance treatment.
What the protocol involves
Each session is run by one of our senior therapists and follows a set sequence we built around what actually works on Melbourne skin. The full appointment takes about 75 minutes.
Step one: deep cleanse and prep
A double cleanse to remove sunscreen, makeup, and surface oil. We then assess the skin under a lamp to confirm depth and choose the right acid intensity for your skin type.
Step two: layered acid resurfacing
A blend of lactic acid (for hydration), mandelic acid (for sensitive skin types), and a small amount of azelaic (for tone) is applied in controlled layers. We are working at a depth that gives visible results but stays well within the comfort zone of a no-downtime treatment.
Step three: salmon DNA polynucleotide infusion
Purified salmon DNA is one of the more interesting actives to come into clinical skincare in the last few years. It supports cellular repair and noticeably increases skin's water-holding capacity. We apply it after the acids so it absorbs efficiently into freshly resurfaced skin.
Step four: hydrating mask and finish
A cooling jelly mask sits for ten minutes while you rest, followed by a peptide serum, a hyaluronic layer, and SPF.
What it is good for
- Dull, tired-looking skin that needs an overall brighten.
- Dehydration. This is a common problem in Melbourne winters and after long-haul flights.
- Uneven tone and mild pigmentation.
- Loss of bounce, or that fresh, plump look.
- Pre-event skin prep when you want a real glow rather than the product-heavy version.
What it is not for
This peel is not designed to treat deep acne scarring, severe melasma, or active cystic acne. If those are your main concerns we will suggest microneedling, salmon DNA microneedling, or a clinical-strength peel instead. We will tell you that honestly at consultation.
Downtime and results
There is no real downtime. Your skin may look pink for an hour or two and feel slightly tight that evening. By the next morning the glow is visible and continues to develop over three to five days. Most clients book this monthly, with a more intensive course in the lead-up to events.
Aftercare
Sunscreen is non-negotiable for the week after. Skip retinols and strong acids for five days. Drink water, sleep early, and let the skin do its work.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a real peel?
It is a clinical peel, but a gentle one. You will not see the skin physically peel or flake the way you might after a deeper TCA or Prodigy peel. The visible effect is brightness and smoothness, not literal skin shedding.
How is this different from a HydraFacial?
A HydraFacial focuses on extraction and hydration through vortex suction. The Aura Glass Skin Peel uses acids and polynucleotides to remodel the skin from a slightly deeper level. They achieve different things and we often combine them in treatment plans.
How long does each session take?
About 75 minutes including consultation and aftercare instructions.
How many sessions do I need?
You will see results from a single treatment. For ongoing glow we recommend monthly sessions. For a pre-event package we suggest three sessions spaced two to three weeks apart.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, with the acid blend adjusted. We use mandelic acid for sensitive skin types because the molecules are larger and penetrate more slowly. Tell us about your sensitivities at consultation.
Can I have this during pregnancy?
We do not recommend the acid step during pregnancy. We can offer a modified version using the polynucleotide infusion, hydrating mask, and finishing steps only. Discuss this at booking.
How soon before an event should I book?
Three to five days before an event is the sweet spot. The skin glows on day three and continues through the week.
