What a HydraFacial does for your skin
A HydraFacial happens in stages. We start by cleansing and lifting away the dead skin on the surface. A light acid then loosens whatever is sitting in your pores, which lets the gentle suction clear out blackheads and congestion. The last stage pushes a serum of antioxidants and hyaluronic acid into the skin. You can feel it working, and you will see a difference before you leave the chair.
Who it is for
It is gentle and easy to adjust, so it works on dry, dehydrated, congested, dull and sensitive skin alike. If you are unsure it is the right choice, say so at your consultation. We will tell you honestly if something else would suit you better.
What to expect
There is no downtime. Most people go straight back to work or lunch, makeup included, with skin that looks fresher. Many clients book one a month to keep the results going.
What boosters and LED add
A booster is a targeted serum applied after the main steps. In the Deluxe we pick one for your main concern, such as dullness, uneven tone, redness or early signs of ageing. The Signature is the base treatment, and the booster is the part chosen for you.
LED light therapy comes with the Platinum. After the lymphatic drainage and HydraFacial steps, you rest under a soft light for a calm finish. It does not hurt and you will not feel anything. Plenty of people like the Platinum simply because LED slows the visit down. If LED is all you want, it is also available on its own as a 30 minute treatment for $85.
How often should you book?
Skin renews itself roughly every four weeks, which is why a lot of clients come in about once a month. Others prefer every six to eight weeks, and some book a single treatment ahead of an occasion. After looking at your skin, your therapist will suggest a rhythm. Regular visits tend to keep skin hydrated and clear. A single visit gives you a fresh, bright finish for a shorter time.
Booking a HydraFacial before an event
Book your HydraFacial two to five days before a wedding, party or photo shoot. That gives your skin time to settle if it looks a little pink or a few small breakouts appear, and the glow is usually still there on the day. If it is your first HydraFacial, do not try it the night before something important. Have a Friday or Saturday night event? Ask about our late appointments. For events we suggest the Platinum, because the lymphatic drainage can leave your face looking less puffy.
Acne, rosacea and sensitive skin
Many people with congested or acne-prone skin enjoy a HydraFacial. The extraction step clears blocked pores gently, and the serums are hydrating. For rosacea or very reactive skin we can often adjust the treatment, for example with softer settings and calming boosters. It is not a treatment for active, inflamed or painful breakouts, open skin or a rosacea flare, and it does not replace medical care. Tell us about your skin at your free consultation, and your therapist will decide whether to go ahead, wait for a better time or suggest something milder.
Before your appointment
Tell us when you book, or at your consultation, if you use retinoids or prescription skin medication, had a peel, laser or facial waxing recently, have cold sores or broken skin, or are pregnant. We would rather change the plan or pick a better day than treat skin that is not ready.
Aftercare
Your therapist will talk you through aftercare. As a general rule, wear SPF every day, leave retinol and exfoliating products alone for a day or two, and skip saunas and very hot workouts on the day of your treatment.
