Korean Lash Lift vs Traditional Lash Lift: What's the Difference?

If you are booking a lash lift, you have probably seen two versions offered: a traditional lash lift and a Korean lash lift. They aim for the same thing, lifted lashes that open the eye without extensions, but they get there differently, and one may suit your lashes far better than the other.

What a traditional lash lift does

A traditional lash lift uses a stronger lifting solution and shapes the lashes into a firm, curled-back look. On healthy, cooperative lashes it can look striking. The trade-off is that the stronger solution can feel harsher on fine or fragile lashes, and the sharper curl can read as slightly artificial or leave the lashes feeling stiff.

What a Korean lash lift does differently

The Korean method uses a milder solution and a softer curl, shaped from closer to the root. The result opens the eye but still looks natural, and because it is gentler it tends to be kinder to lash condition over repeat visits. It also holds better on the lashes that usually defeat a standard lift: straight, short or downward-facing ones.

Side by side

  • Curl: traditional is firmer and more dramatic; Korean is softer and more natural.
  • Solution strength: traditional is stronger; Korean is milder.
  • Best for: traditional suits healthy lashes that take a curl easily; Korean suits fine, straight, short or stubborn lashes.
  • Feel: traditional can feel stiffer; Korean keeps lashes soft and flexible.
  • Longevity: both last around six to eight weeks with good aftercare.

Which should you choose?

If you have tried a regular lash lift and found it too much, or found it did not hold, the Korean lift is usually the one to try next. If your lashes are naturally strong and you like a bolder curl, a traditional lift can still be a great fit. At your consultation we look at your lash length, direction and condition and give you an honest recommendation.

There is also a third option worth knowing about: our vitamin-enriched lash lift, which adds a conditioning step aimed at lash strength for anyone whose lashes need extra care.
